O Captain! My Captain!

Steffen ‘Thumander’ Thum is an impressive mountain biker, a fighter, an incurable optimist. ‘Practice makes perfect’ and Steffen must have caught on to that quite soon, for he was just a small kid when he competed in his first professional race. It didn’t take him long to make a stab at national events, too, and soon became one of the best U23 marathon mountain bikers. In 2010, he decided to create the ROSE Vaujany fueled by ultraSPORTS team together with Simon Gegenheimer and, since then, the team has conquered top-notch placings at international championships. His open and friendly spirit has won over not only his teammates, but also his fans. Everyone was ecstatic when he won – for the second time – the MTB Marathon World Cup in 2014. That wasn’t his last victory, though, as he was the best climber at the 2015 BIKE Transalp and won the Polka Dot Jersey. He faces his training sessions with a fighter‘s attitude and a smile on his face, trying to overcome his limits. Steffen walks down his own path and inspires everyone who happens to be around him to come along for a bike ride, and enjoy the experience:

The sun never sets but it always rises!
